Apply on the CORE (Connected Online Regulatory Environment) portal
Tennessee health profession licenses are managed through the CORE online portal at health.tn.gov. Create an account, select "Registered Nurse, Endorsement," and complete the online application. Pay the endorsement fee (~$100; verify the current amount at health.tn.gov before applying).
Authorize Nursys electronic license verification
Tennessee participates in Nursys. Authorize Nursys to release your current license record to the Tennessee State Board of Nursing (TSBN) within your CORE application. If your home state is not on Nursys, request paper verification from your state board and mail it to TSBN in Nashville.
Complete TBI and FBI fingerprint background check
Tennessee requires a criminal background check through the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and FBI. Follow the fingerprinting instructions provided in your CORE application confirmation, Tennessee uses an authorized fingerprint vendor network. Fingerprint results transmit electronically to the TSBN.
